The Old Gal Gets a Facelift

No, not me, though it couldn't hurt! This old gal. Don and his sons tore off the old siding to reveal the ugliness beneath. Now we know why it was installed in the first place!
Then they installed a new support structure and the beautiful new bronze siding went up.

They worked through heat, humidity and a thunderstorm, but by the end of the day, we had this. Can't wait for the lanterns and new awning. It's going to look so good.
But right now, we're pretty happy with this!

Finishing Touches

We have baseboards! And would you look at those beauties? They
coordinate so well with the flooring and wall colors.

Don did a beautiful job mitering the corners. In a 100+ yr old building where the walls
aren't perfectly plumb and the floors aren't exactly level, that's no easy task.
Another view of his handiwork. The archway looks great.
We'll be moving in any day now.  Then our real work begins!

While We Were Gone.....

A pleasant surprise!

We arrived home from our painting workshop to find the huge corrugated fiberglass awning gone! Don and his sons had been busy. What it lacked in beauty it made up for in durability. That baby was built to last and didn't come down without a fight. It was installed in the 50's and Don and his sons are sure it would have lasted another 60 years. No one is sorry to see it gone! The new, prettier version,  should arrive shortly.
